House Manager / Head Housekeeper Job (Private Family Residences) Edinburgh/Stirling
Greycoat Lumley’s client is seeking an experienced House Manager / Head Housekeeper to oversee and maintain two private residences in Scotland: a country house in Stirlingshire and a property in Edinburgh.
During periods when the family is not present, the role will focus on proactive management, maintenance oversight, and ensuring that the houses are kept to a very high standard.
The successful candidate will ensure that the homes are always maintained to an exceptional standard and fully prepared for the family’s arrival at any time. This role combines hands-on housekeeping during family residence with property management and contractor coordination during periods when the houses are unoccupied. The family are seeking a long-term and trusted individual who will take pride in managing and maintaining the homes to a very high standard and who is comfortable working with a high degree of independence and responsibility.
Household Management
Ensure both residences are immaculately maintained and always guest-ready
Maintain household inventories, supplies and provisions
Organise household systems and seasonal maintenance schedules
Liaise with and supervise contractors, tradespeople and service providers
Monitor property maintenance issues and arrange repairs where necessary
Act as the family’s trusted local point of contact for property matters
Provide regular updates to the family when they are not in residence, including occasional photos and reports on the condition and operation of the houses
Housekeeping – When the Family is in Residence
Cleaning and presentation of all rooms
Laundry and wardrobe care
Bed preparation and linen management
Maintaining kitchens and living spaces
Light cooking if required
Clearing and cleaning after meals
Preparing guest bedrooms and bathrooms to a high standard
Monitor security and safety of the properties
Applicants must have a full clean driving licence and love dogs
Relocation or housing assistance may be available for an exceptional candidate.
During periods when the family is in residence, accommodation will be provided when required to support the working schedule.
Hours of work: Standard each week, increasing when the Principals are in residence, flexibility must be given for these times.
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 GPA depending on experience
Travelling between the 2 locations will be covered with a mileage allowance
