House Manager- Hampshire - 30 mins from Southampton

Overview

A wonderful family with twin daughters (soon turning 16) are seeking an exceptional Family & House Manager for their New Forest weekend property. This is a unique role combining high-level household management with warm, nurturing support for two active teenage girls.

The family typically arrives on Friday evenings and departs on Sunday evenings. You'll work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as core days (approximately 9:30am-7:30pm), plus two weekdays, with two weekdays off. When the family is travelling or not visiting the property, the schedule is flexible.

This role is perfect for someone who is organised, proactive, and personable - someone who can seamlessly manage a beautiful estate while building a genuine rapport with the girls. 

Job duties

Responsibilities of the Family & House Manager in Hampshire, UK, include:

Estate & House Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the New Forest property, ensuring its always guest-ready and beautifully presented

  • Prepare the property for the family's arrival each weekend, including bedroom resets, restocking, fire preparation, and personalised touches

  • Manage and coordinate household staff (housekeeper twice weekly, local cook)

  • Coordinate property maintenance schedules, service contracts, and specialist care

  • Maintain detailed inventories of household items, consumables, linens, and supplies

  • Manage household accounts, utilities, invoices, and expense tracking

  • Source and introduce high-quality local products and services

  • Coordinate with full time grounds manager and part-time gardener

  • Liaise with contractors overseeing ongoing work post-renovations and landscaping projects

  • Coordinate with the London-based team to ensure smooth transition of family, dog, and goods

Family & Lifestyle Support

  • Provide warm, nurturing support to the twin girls, helping them settle into the local area and feel at home.  Act as a trusted, supportive presence - offering guidance, consistency, and mentorship

  • Assist with their routines, activities, and integration into the New Forest community

  • Transport the girls to/from sporting, shopping, and other activities as needed

  • Assist with managing the family calendar, appointments, and scheduling

  • Organise seasonal preparations and festive celebrations

  • Source and book bespoke activities and experiences aligned with family interests (sailing, wellness, sport, creative workshops)

  • Manage sailing equipment, club memberships, and sports kit

  • Arrange grooming and vet care for small family dog 

Wardrobe & Personal Organisation

  • Manage wardrobe organisation and seasonal rotations for the family

  • Coordinate specialist cleaning, tailoring, and replenishment

  • Source and oversee personal service providers (trainers, therapists, stylists, coaches) 

Events & Hosting

  • Plan and deliver private gatherings and dinner parties from concept to execution

  • Source local suppliers, floristry, catering, and entertainment

  • Create guest guides and curate personalised hosting experiences

  • Organise gifting and keepsakes for family and staff

Candidates must be/have:

A natural organiser with a warm, proactive approach to household management. You excel at creating a beautifully run home, managing contractors and staff with ease, and ensuring every detail is handled seamlessly. Equally important is your ability to connect authentically with teenage girls - you're active, approachable, and nurturing, offering support and guidance while respecting their independence. You enjoy creating and partaking in adventures and experiences with the girls.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in house management or a similar high-calibre role

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills

  • Confident liaising with contractors, suppliers, and service providers

  • Warm, empathetic approach with teenagers - able to build trust and rapport

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Valid UK driving licence

  • Flexibility with scheduling (weekend/weekday rotation)

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team

Desirable

  • Background in hospitality, luxury service, or private household management

  • Experience with project coordination

  • Knowledge of sailing or water sports

  • Familiarity with the New Forest area and local services

Accommodation

This is a live-out position, so no accommodation is provided. Work vehicle provided.

Hours

Approximately 9:30am-7:30pm, Friday-Sunday, plus two weekdays.

Two weekdays off. Flexibility is required.
