Live-in Gardener or Live-in Couple Job in Suffolk
We have a lovely position for a single lady in Suffolk who is looking for a Live in Gardener or Live in Couple (Full time Gardener/Handyman & Part time second role) to help maintain her beautiful Farmhouse set in a rural location in the Suffolk countryside. The employer has grown up children with grandchildren who live in London. She has one small dog.
The role will suit team players who are flexible and friendly, with a willingness to communicate openly. The gardener will be required to have a good knowledge of plants and also vegetable growing. A love of dogs is essential and you must be confident handling dogs.
Also employed is an Estate Groundsman/Gardener and part-time Housekeeper who have both been employed with the principal for many years.
Full time role duties will involve but not be limited to:
Gardening and outdoor maintenance
- strimming, hedging, pruning, weeding and other tasks as directed
- Primary responsibility for kitchen garden, polytunnel & greenhouse
- Maintenance of fruit trees and orchards
Property and Handyman duties
- basic property maintenance tasks
- occasional maintenance and care of other properties
Driving & vehicle care
- Driving duties as required
- Basic vehicle maintenance
Security and General Site oversight
- Responsibility for on-site security
- Checking in with the principal upon return from trips (eg help with bags etc)
- House-sitting during absences
Animal Care
- Pet sitting when the principal is away
- Dog walking/feeding when required
Part-time Role (applicable to couple applications only)
- Setting up the barn for community activities – in particular: singing for health and wellbeing on Mondays. Role includes setting up the space (tables, chairs etc), helping with tea/coffee mid-way through the session, cleaning the space afterwards
- Household duties as needed (but note there is a part-time housekeeper 3 mornings a week)
- Helping with meal preparation during family/friend visits
- Running errands and shopping
Please note that the successful applicant for the part-time role could be working from home/working elsewhere as long as they can be available on Monday afternoons for community singing and ideally would be able to give some time at the beginning/end of other days to fulfil the role (hours to be agreed on an individual basis)
Start: late June / early July ideally
Accommodation: 2-bedroom barn with bathroom, sitting room, large kitchen and enclosed garden. You share a driveway with the main property. Dependents and pets would be considered. Utility bills will be covered by the employer.
Salary:
- Solo Gardener: £33,000 - £38,000 GPA
- Couple: negotiable depending on how many hours are agreed for the second role
Working week: mainly Monday to Friday with some occasional weekend work.
Hours:
- Gardener/Handyman: 40 hours a week
Driving: Yes, driving to a high standard essential in a range of different vehicles
