Live in Housekeeper Job in Henley-on Thames, Oxfordshire
A new international client of Greycoat Lumleys is looking to hire an experienced and professional live-in housekeeper for their large recently refurbished fully staffed residence based in Oxfordshire. The family consist of mum, dad and their two school-aged children they are a relaxed and fun semi-formal family who like to entertain with their guests from time to time although they expect a more formal service when guests are staying. The family home has nine bedrooms with various other outbuildings one of which is a 4 bedroom cottage which you would be responsible for. They have another property abroad where they spend six months a year and stay at this property for the remaining 6 months alongside another property in the UK. The role primarily involves hands-on housekeeping for the 9-bedroom home, along with assisting at dinner parties when they entertain it would be a huge bonus if you had silver service knowledge although training can be given. You will work alongside a part-time cleaner, gardener, chef and house manager and be part of a fantastic team.
Duties to include:
Cleaning of the 9-bedroom home and the communal areas in the cottage
Laundry and ironing
Ordering food and supplies
Packing and unpacking deliveries
Service duties and food preparation helping alongside the chef
Some packing and unpacking duties
Ability to prepare simple meals on occasion (tradition Indian cuisine would be a bonus)
Providing refreshments
Laying formal and informal tables
Meeting and greeting guests
Other ad hoc duties as required
Care for the family dog including walking shared with other staff members
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, energetic, organised, have great attention to detail and be highly flexible around the family's requirements. Previous experience working as a professional housekeeper in private households and checkable references are required.
A driving licence is essential.
Accommodation: Large one-bedroom beautiful Shepherd’s hut Partners will be considered
Hours: 40 – 45 hours with flexibility - working days on a rota basis to be discussed. You must be flexible to work weekends.
Salary £35k - £40k Gross per annum
