Live-in Housekeeper Job, Berkshire
A warm and welcoming couple are seeking an experienced and professional live-in Housekeeper to join their peaceful country home in Berkshire. The principals divide their time between London and the countryside, and as their two grown-up children live independently, the household is calm and well organised, shared with their much-loved pets.
The role would suit someone with previous experience working in private households who enjoys a quiet environment, is happy to work independently, and has genuine affection for animals. The position offers comfortable self-contained accommodation and the opportunity to become a valued part of a long-term household.
Duties to include:
• Full housekeeping, cleaning, and maintaining the home to a high standard
• Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe management
• Daily care of three dogs, including feeding and walking to established routines
• Feeding and basic care of eight cats and six hens
• General household organisation and upkeep, particularly of the kitchen, laundry, and boot rooms
• Managing household deliveries and occasional errands
• Occasional assistance when entertaining or hosting guests (with overtime paid)
• Driving for local collections or drop-offs as required (petrol and mileage reimbursed)
The Ideal Candidate
• Proven experience working as a housekeeper in a private household
• Confident caring for animals and comfortable managing several pets
• Organised, discreet, and self-sufficient
• Positive, warm, and proactive with a can-do attitude
• Flexible and happy working alone for periods when the principals are away
• Full UK driving licence and excellent checkable references are essential
Accommodation: A spacious, self-contained one-bedroom flat in a converted barn close to the main house is provided, with private entrance, kitchen, sitting room, bedroom, and bathroom. All utilities are included.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm, with flexibility for occasional weekend or evening support when required.
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 gross per annum, depending on experience
