Groundsman / Park Ranger / Maintenance Manager / Handyman Job
Greycoat Lumley's client are seeking a versatile and dedicated individual to join a team as a Groundsman / Park Ranger / Maintenance Manager / Handyman. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of events venues and associated facilities. The successful candidate will work across Events, Agricultural, Game and Wildlife, and Property departments, providing a diverse and dynamic work environment.
Duties Include:
Building and Facilities Maintenance:
Perform a variety of building maintenance tasks, including painting, repairing plumbing fixtures, general carpentry, and conducting routine inspections.
Ensure the upkeep and functionality of various interesting buildings and structures within the estate.
Assist with moving furniture, setting up and dismantling event setups, and other logistical tasks as required.
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on boilers and other mechanical equipment.
Install and maintain lighting fixtures, ensuring all areas are well-lit and safe.
Handle minor renovations and refurbishments to enhance the aesthetic and functional quality of the estate's buildings.
Order replacement parts, furniture, and other necessary supplies to ensure continuous maintenance and functionality.
Liaise with third-party contractors for specialised repairs and maintenance tasks.
Grounds Maintenance:
Maintain the estate, including grass cutting, strimming, and clearing debris.
Snow clearance and gritting drives.
Litter and leaf clearance.
Clipping hedges and clearing drives of fallen branches/trees.
Reinstating rutted verges on estate drives.
Cleaning and regular checks of gates and signs.
Weeding at various locations within the estate.
Let property grounds maintenance (grass cutting and small garden tidies).
Coordinate with external contractors for large-scale grounds maintenance projects.
Event Support:
Assist with event-related duties, including driving and acting as a duty manager when needed.
Provide security for events, ensuring the safety of attendees and the security of the premises.
Opportunity to work as an Events Steward as required.
Collaborate with event organisers and external vendors to ensure smooth event operations.
Security Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain security systems for various buildings.
Provide 24-hour security coverage as needed, including alarm call-outs.
Be vigilant in ensuring that the public are acting responsibly within the access codes while on the estate.
Work with security contractors to address any significant security concerns.
Game and Wildlife Department Support:
Assist the Game and Wildlife manager with manual tasks such as building pheasant pens and maintaining fences
Perform other duties as required by the Game and Wildlife department.
Coordinate with contractors for specialised tasks within the Game and Wildlife department.
Farm Department Support:
Carry out grass cutting, strimming, maintenance, and fencing tasks.
Perform light tree work and operate a tractor if qualified.
Assist with general farm work, including feeding animals and maintaining equipment.
Coordinate vehicle repairs with garages and handle other vehicle-related maintenance tasks.
Assisting with the production of firewood and deliveries.
Liaise with agricultural contractors for specific farm-related projects.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in the production and delivery of firewood.
Assist with snow clearance and gritting drives during winter months.
Perform small maintenance jobs and repairs as needed.
Clear litter and leaves from various locations within the estate.
Deliver parcels to the family as needed.
Provide 24/7 alarm call-out support.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in maintenance, handyman, or similar roles.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Valid driving licence and ability to operate a tractor (preferred).
Digger training, spray tickets, and chainsaw training.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing.
Proven organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks competently.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to understand, prioritise, and operate within a fast-paced environment.
Judgement to exercise discretion and preserve confidentiality where required.
