Part Time Chef Job

A client from Greycoat Lumleys is looking for a talented and experienced chef to join a busy household in Holland Park, London. The role will involve preparing healthy, organic, and nutritious meals, with an emphasis on Mediterranean-inspired, Ottolenghi-style cuisine. The family prefers grilled meats, fish, and plenty of vegetables, and does not consume shellfish or pork. You will be responsible for meal prep and fridge filling, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and healthy, catering for two adults and two children under the age of 3.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation: Prepare healthy, nutritious, organic meals, primarily focusing on grilled meats, fish, and plenty of vegetables, in the style of Ottolenghi’s cuisine.
  • Fridge Filling: Shop for and fill the fridge with fresh ingredients, ensuring all meals are well-planned for the week.
  • Family Meals: Cater to the preferences of the family, ensuring meals are suitable for adults and children (under 3 years old).
  • Meal Planning: Work with the family to create balanced weekly menus.
  • Cooking & Presentation: Ensure meals are of high-quality and beautifully presented, paying attention to portion size, variety, and balance of nutrients.
  • Kitchen & Cleaning: Keep the kitchen clean and organized, ensuring all working areas are tidied up at the end of each session.
  • Set the Table: Occasionally assist with setting the table for meals, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Fluent in Portuguese (communication with the family and children will be in Portuguese).
  • Proven experience working as a private chef, preferably with families and children under 3 years old.
  • Passion for organic, healthy, and wholesome cooking, particularly in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines.
  • Knowledge and ability to cater to dietary restrictions (shellfish and pork-free).
  • Ability to shop for quality ingredients independently and prepare balanced, varied meals.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and well-organized.
  • Strong attention to detail and a clean working approach.
  • Self-employed and able to provide necessary documentation and invoices.

Desirable:

  • Experience with dietary preferences for young children (under 3 years).
  • Ability to create a child-friendly menu while maintaining health-conscious ingredients.
  • Creativity and willingness to try new ingredients and cooking methods in line with the family’s preferences.
