Residential Boarding Tutor Job

I am working with a college that is an exciting and rewarding community in which to work. Their aim is to provide a safe, friendly and exciting place to live and learn and to contribute to a successful and enjoyable learning experience for their students. They currently have a position for a Boarding Tutor at to start in January 2024.

They are looking for a well-rounded and enthusiastic individual, who can offer a range of skills in areas such as sports and activities (including art, drama etc.). The position is be orientated to the strengths and interests of the candidates wherever possible and designed to help to foster their career progression. The role offers both a rich insight into life at a boarding school as well as opportunities to develop and learn core pastoral skills and skills in planning and delivering sports and activity sessions.

The role would suit those considering a future career in education, or working with children, or candidates with previous experience of teaching and/or caring for children. The role offers variety and candidates should be flexible and able to deal with changes in circumstances, and be able to take initiative. Candidates should genuinely enjoy working with children, be energetic, have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.

Main Duties and Responsibilites

  • Supervise and care for the international boarding students who attend the College.
  • Take an active role in ensuring the students’ welfare and happiness.
  • Implement the College’s Health & Safety and Risk Assessment procedures for your activities as directed.
  • Stand in for Head of Boarding/Deputy Head of Boarding, as required
  • Take responsibility for a boarding house, as required

Opportunities exist for those wishing to prepare for PGCE entry to gain experience assisting in the classroom under the direction of a teacher. Previous post holders have progressed to be a Houseparent within the College, or gone on to be Deputy Head of Boarding, or to study PGCEs, and taken up careers in the sports industry.

Accommodation and all meals are provided during term time. Ideally the candidate should hold a full UK driving licence.

Salary: £16,000 GPA

Hours: 5 days and 2 consecutive days off per week

Accommodation: Provided within the grounds
