Short Term Chef Job in Shaftesbury

A lovely client of Greycoat Lumleys is looking for potentially 2 private chefs. There is strong emphasis on classic and quality food, and you will also be responsible for cooking for a small crew of 8 and this will typically be lunch and dinner.

You will make breakfast if there are any guests in residence and it will be a family style meal with a focus on protein and carbs however, the principles enjoy eating classic world dishes, but tend to avoid overly rich foods, fresh and light for summer is the key.  They enjoy 'world foods' with a strong liking for south east Asian, middle eastern/Turkish as well as Mexican styled dishes. The job will mainly be informal service with platters, canapes etc . 

when Principles have guests in residence you will need to have a buffet breakfast, however when no visitors, breakfast, if any is a very simple arrangement. When they have guests there must be a dessert option available with all meals even when informal.  As mentioned most meals will be family style with potential for a couple of more formal dinner service meals in the trip, which will consist of a  3 course plated meal, with canapes before hand. You will be required to cook for a small team of staff around 6-8 for lunch and dinner.

You will also be responsible in cleaning down and maintaining the cleanliness of your working area.

The role will be a live-in so accommodation is provided and will be a B&B in the village which is separate to the estate but within 10 minutes walking distance of the estate.

  • There could potentially be dogs in the household

  • You will need to drive for this role and have your own car

  • You will need an Enhanced DBS within the last year to apply for this role

  • Any ingredients you need to buy will be expensed by the client, and the client will also inform you of food preferences, dietaries and any allergies closer to the date.

  • The client would like the chef to use local suppliers 

  • Start date:  (approx) 15th-27th June then handover with 2nd chef 27th-8th July (exact timings to be confirmed with the client)

  • Salary: £350.00 per day 

  • Accommodation provided (strictly no drinking on shift and accommodation will either be on site or in a nearby AB&B)
