  • Avoid placing flower arrangements in windowsills where sun can overheat the flowers which can cause make them wilt

  • Flowers will usually last longer under cool conditions

  • Even though most flowers bought from florists and shops come with a flower preservative, do not be tempted to mix it in the with the flowers as this will actually cause them to wilt quicker

How To Keep Your Flowers Looking Fresh

  • Keep your vase topped up with fresh water and make sure all flower and foliage stems are submerged

  • Immediately remove dead or wilting leaves and stems from fresh flower arrangements when you notice them. Once you have removed the good flowers, clean the vase thoroughly with soapy water to remove any bacteria as this could lead to the flowers deteriorating even quicker

  • Be sure to change the water once it gets cloudy. You can revive them and keep them looking fresh for a few more days by adding Lemonade or Milton to the water in the vase

  • When cutting stems, use a sharp knife at an angle about one to two inches from the bottom. This allows them to better absorb water. Avoid using scissors to cut your flowers because they can crush the stems and prevent water absorption
