Couple Job, Portugal Domestic & Agro-Tourism Couple Location: Baixo Alentejo Region, Portugal (near Grândola) Property: Private family country house & farm (Herdade – approx. 350ha) Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time, live-in couple About the Property & Family This is a private, family-owned country residence in the Alentejo, used by the owners mostly on weekends, holidays and through longer periods in the summer. The property also hosts seasonal rentals in the summer months and requires year-round upkeep, and guardianship when the family is not in residence.  Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, trustworthy live-in couple to manage the household, garden and operations for a large estate in Rural Alentejo. The farming operation already has a farm manager. The couple will also welcome the family and occasional guests/renters, ensuring the property is always well maintained, clean and running smoothly. The role will involve some pet and animal care, and the location can be very hot in summer. Accommodation is provided on the property (a comfortable 2-bedroom house with bathroom, living area and kitchen). All expenses are included except for food. Responsibilities (Combined) Candidates can divide work as they best see fit.  Housekeeper / Cook General housekeeping and cleaning of the main house Laundry, ironing and household organization Cooking for the family when they visit (approx. 1–2 weekends per month, plus longer stays in summer) Preparing the house before and after family visits (Cleaning, Laundry and bedrooms) Ensuring a guest-ready standard at all times  Supporting guest arrivals during summer rentals (cleaning & changeovers) Grounds/ Hospitality & Maintenance Garden care: watering, pruning, planting, general upkeep and maintenance Good care and organisation of storage and tools  Swimming pool maintenance Care of animals: Horses, 2 dogs and chickens (feeding, health awareness, daily routines). Experience with Horses is advantageous but not a requirement Small repairs around the house and property (basic maintenance) Monitoring agricultural areas of the Herdade (light oversight – no commercial farm management required) Preparing outdoor areas before family visits Support during summer rental season (property checks, simple maintenance requests) Additional insight  The couple should be autonomous, organised, and able to maintain the property year-round (apart from periods of annual leave), including periods when the family is not present. Discretion, reliability and good communication are essential. Fluent English is required. Portuguese is highly beneficial and a big + Previous experience as a domestic/farm couple is preferred.
