Couple in Switzerland - Start date February/March 2026
A respected client of Greycoat Lumleys is seeking a Professional Domestic Couple near Gstaad, Switzerland. The property has separate local accommodation in a Swiss cottage of a good standard. Candidates must be happy to work in rural locations. Applicants must be either Swiss nationals, B permit holders, or EU passport holders, Unfortunately due to employment regulations, British nationals should not apply.
The principal duties will revolve around the care of the property and a single individual for a beautiful location near Gstaad, Switzerland. This is the principal’s main residence, although they travel frequently.
The role suits calm, self-sufficient individuals who are happy working independently in a rural mountain setting.
The Role
Full housekeeping of a large chalet (cleaning, laundry, linens, ironing, organisation)
Healthy, family-style household cooking outside of peak season (chef employed during high season)
Grocery and household shopping
Light outdoor duties: sweeping, terrace set-up, cushions, light gardening
Table service when required
Receiving deliveries and managing supplies
Assisting with the care of two dogs (one small, one large)
Driving the principal and keeping household vehicles in good condition
Maybe occasional babysitting for visiting grandchildren
A local part-time housekeeper assists daily, mainly with laundry and ironing.
Requirements
Proven experience as a live-in housekeeper or domestic couple in a private household
Verifiable references, ideally from Switzerland or mountainous locations
Confident mountain driver, including snow and winter conditions (essential)
Confident cook
Dog-friendly and child-friendly
Fluent English or French (Swiss German an advantage)
EU passport or existing Swiss work permit
Comfortable living in a remote, peaceful location, sometimes alone
Working Conditions
5 days per week, approx. 40 hours (never more than 50)
Flexibility is required during peak seasons
Overtime paid
Holidays taken outside peak seasons only
