A delightful opportunity for a highly-experienced and detail-oriented Sole Gardener to work at a large private house on a 5 acre site in the Bowdon area on the Cheshire/Greater Manchester border. The grounds were almost entirely reworked in 2021 after a house renovation, but are already well-stocked and matured.

The residence is surrounded by formal gardens, pond and woodland. The garden area includes formal lawns, a kitchen garden, a glasshouse trained fruit trees, mixed herbaceous borders, annual display beds, hedges, topiary and perimeter hedges, a mixture of Bredon gravel and stone pathways as well as a wild flower meadow, two ponds and a good number of mature trees.

The candidate will be required to maintain the formal garden and grounds to a high standard and manage the kitchen garden, supplying the owners with fresh produce seasonally. The successful candidate will have proven experience in pruning (roses, fruit trees and shrubs as well as extensive knowledge of lawn management (feeds etc).

It is hoped that the successful candidate will also have an interest in horticultural design to advise and aid the clients in getting the most from their garden as it continues to develop and mature.

Occasionally you will be required to help on the wider estate, woodlands or other tasks appointed by the Estate Manager so flexibility is necessary. Helping set up for any events or functions at the property as an example of this. The Estate Manager is also able to provide assistance to the Gardener with certain tasks that require more than one person.

The client is seeking a passionate, highly organised, self-motivated individual with a positive approach and keen eye for detail and a can-do approach.

The owners have two small dogs as pets plus there are guard dogs that live on site, so the successful applicant preferably should also be at ease with dogs.
