Head Butler Job, Mayfair, West London
Overview:
We are seeking a highly professional, experienced Head Butler to join a private household in Mayfair. This individual will be responsible for delivering an exceptional standard of discreet service and household management, ensuring the smooth running of formal and informal events, and upholding the highest standards of etiquette and professionalism. The ideal candidate must be adaptable, technologically proficient, and possess strong leadership and hospitality skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Butler & Household Services
Provide hands-on service to the principals and guests with utmost discretion and attention to detail
Oversee table settings, silver service, and wine service for both formal and informal occasions
Maintain and care for fine china, glassware, silverware, and linens
Assist with wardrobe management, packing/unpacking, and personal errands as required
2. Event Execution & Management
Plan, coordinate, and manage high-end events and private functions at the residence
Liaise with caterers, florists, and other external suppliers as required
Ensure flawless execution of events with close attention to guest experience and discretion
3. Staff & Operations Oversight
Supervise junior household staff to ensure service excellence
Oversee daily operations and ensure that all areas of the home are maintained to the highest standard
Liaise with the Estate/House Manager regarding schedules, maintenance, and household needs
4. Professionalism & Office Etiquette
Act as a first point of contact within the household with grace and discretion
Uphold strict confidentiality and loyalty at all times
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
5. Administrative & Technical Duties
Maintain household inventories and supplier lists
Use computer systems for scheduling, purchasing, inventory management, and correspondence
Be proficient with Microsoft Office, smart home systems, and other relevant applications
Requirements:
Must have the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom
Valid UK Driving Licence (clean record)
Formal butler or hospitality training preferred (e.g., The British Butler Institute or similar)
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within a UHNW or formal household
Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
High levels of discretion, emotional intelligence, and a calm demeanour
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
