Live out Head Gardener job near Newbury in Berkshire
An excellent opportunity has become available for a Head Gardener, who is hands on, creative, enthusiastic and who can project manage and lead a couple of part time Gardeners. This is a stunning and prestigious garden at the heart of a traditional country family estate.
This role would really suit someone who is confident to have overall responsibility for managing and maintaining the gardens and grounds to the highest standards.
This Head Gardener will have solid experience. Qualifications and PA1/PA6 spraying certificates are desirable.
Some of the duties are:
Full care & maintenance of flowers, shrubs, trees, lawns, hedges, rose gardens etc
Planting, transplanting, fertilising, pruning, spraying, weeding, watering & managing pests & diseases
Implementing & maintaining detailed landscape & seasonal planting plans.
Maintenance of garden structures, equipment & supplies; safe use of machinery
General groundskeeping: mowing, mulching, strimming, raking & upkeep of paths & driveways.
Greenhouse management & propagation of flowers, fruit & vegetables
Supporting ad hoc estate project work
Maintenance of London property terrace garden on an ad hoc basis
Liaising closely with the Estate Manager and the principals to deliver the owner’s vision for the garden
The principal wants someone who is highly organised and who is pro active and self motivated.
Start: As and when the right person is found.
Working week: Monday to Friday, 40 hour week
Driving: essential
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 gross per annum dependant on experience
