Head Gardener Position, UHNW Private Gardens - Long Island, New York, USA

We have a wonderful client based on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. They have over 10 - Acres of immaculately landscaped garden and woodland with extensive views of the Bay. Some of the Features include elevated plateau's, a perfectly manicured lawn with specimen trees, Rose Garden, Pool garden, a small orchard and various Shrubberies and woodland walks

To be considered:

  • Superb skills and experience in a similar role – a minimum of two years working at management level and experience of working in a garden of comparable extent and character
  • Hold a recognised horticultural qualification
  • Be a strong leader and hands on team player. Should be confident, self-motivated, and organised. Able to demonstrate that he/she can support and lead their team to consistently achieve the highest standards of horticultural management and presentation.
  • must be an excellent communicator with the owner, designer and other contractors
  • Flexible approach to duties undertaken
  • This is a hands-on role, working with the team but also must be able to organise and support the further development of the team.
  • Ability to work within a team or on own initiative as required
  • An ability to manage budgets effectively
  • Competence in all relevant areas of health and safety
  • Effective communication and organisational skills
  • Honesty and a high level of integrity
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and an ability to objectively review opportunities and ideas
  • Strong attention to detail, a creative eye and flair for design
  • Systematic and cheerful approach with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Passionate, inspirational, and dedicated
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate previous experience of private employment with the appropriate skills, etiquette, and integrity to match

Details:

  • Accommodation: As we are seeking the very best Head Gardeners in the USA, the client can offer accommodation for anyone relocating for a set period (Probation) to allow them to source their own accommodation 
  • Salary: Fully Negotiable but as a guide around $150,000 to $175,000 Gross per annum 
  • Hours: 40hr week Monday to Friday with flexibility 
  • Holiday: 4 Weeks (off season) 
  • Health Insurance
