Head Housekeeper Job – Stamford Lincolnshire - £35,000 to 40,000 GPA
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Housekeeper to take full responsibility for the housekeeping function and day-to-day household operations of a large period family home just outside Stamford. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring strong leadership, excellent organisation, and the ability to run the home efficiently to the highest standards.
The estate compromises of a 10 bed Grade II* Georgian period property, along with multiple converted outbuildings and cottages throughout the estate. The team will compromise of a Senior Housekeeper and a Housekeeper. The family have a young son and another baby on the way due in March. A full time Nanny is also part of the domestic team.
Key Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for housekeeping standards, presentation, and smooth day-to-day running of the household
Planning, implementing, and reviewing cleaning, laundry, ironing, and organisational schedules
Managing and supervising one additional Housekeeper, including task allocation, training, and quality control
Acting as the main point of contact for household-related matters, ensuring clear communication and continuity
Expert care of antiques, fine furnishings, chandeliers, artwork frames, and delicate finishes with natural methods
High-standard, quick and efficient ironing, including formal wear, delicate garments, and household linens
Wardrobe management, including garment care, storage, packing/unpacking, and seasonal organisation
Sewing and mending, including repairs, alterations, and upkeep of fine fabrics and household linens
Managing household supplies, stock levels, purchasing, and utility oversight
Coordinating contractors, tradespeople, and service providers, overseeing work and reporting maintenance issues
Assisting with guest stays and event preparation, ensuring the property is presented to a five-star standard
Maintaining outdoor living areas, including terraces, furniture, and pathways
Light pet care for one small dog and occasional errands as required
Preparing simple, family-style meals and assisting with cooking when required (preferred)
Supporting the wider running of the household as needed to ensure efficiency and discretion
About You
Proven experience in a senior or Head Housekeeper role within large, high-end, or historic private residences
Strong operational and household management skills
Excellent ironing, wardrobe care, and sewing abilities
Cooking experience and confidence in the kitchen (preferred)
Confident managing staff, contractors, and daily household logistics
Highly organised, proactive, and detail-driven
Professional, discreet, and trustworthy
Comfortable around pets and adaptable to the changing needs of a private household
Driver essential with excellent references and Enhanced DBS check
Hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, however flexibility is paramount to support the needs of the family when requested
Ideally a daily position but accommodation could be available for the right candidate

£35,000 to £40,000 GPA + pension
