Live in Couple Job in Dorset

We have a lovely position for a couple in Dorset who are looking for a Housekeeper/Cook & Chauffeur/Houseman Couple. This is a main residence which has a total of 12 bedrooms, 8 of which are en-suite and although most of the time the principals, a mature couple, live alone there, they do have a large and extended family who will be visiting 3-4 times per year including over Christmas and Easter holidays.

This is an informal family home, there will be some entertaining during the year, but mostly all will be on an informal or semi-formal basis and mainly for family and friends.

Also employed is a part time cleaner once a week, gardeners and a Handyman.

Their couple of 7 years are leaving so they are looking for another couple who have longevity in their positions, are adaptable, flexible and have fluent English. One of you must be a confident cook of fresh and healthy meals.

Duties will involve but not be limited to: 

  • Running the household
  • Keeping the house clean and tidy
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Preparing a light lunch when requested and a 2-course dinner (main course and dessert) each evening for the principals
  • Preparing traditional, fresh, healthy meals to dinner party standard when family and friends visit
  • Vehicle maintenance for a fleet of cars (including a Bentley)
  • Driving duties (mostly local but occasionally an airport run.)
  • Assistance with pressure washing of terraces, paving and patio areas
  • Running errands and shopping
  • Dog care (walking the dog etc)
  • House and pet sitting when the principals are away

Start: August ideally

Accommodation: Self-contained private 2-bedroom apartment, in the West wing of the house with a separate entrance. Well behaved pets will be considered.

Salary: £80,000 gross per annum, negotiable for the right couple

Working week: mainly Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work weekends if extended family are visiting. A degree of flexibility is required, as when the extended family visit, the hours will be longer, and weekends will need to be worked.

Driving: Yes, ideally both to be able to drive
