A fantastic opportunity for an Estate Management Couple to work for a lovely principal and her family at her part time UK residence in Surrey. The existing Couple are leaving after 10 years. The client mainly resides in the Middle East and has grown up children and grandchildren. Between all of them, they are probably in residence between 3-4 months of the year, mainly in the summer between July to September. Whilst the family are in residence, you will be required to be on hand 24/7 and you will be expected to work longer hours and weekends, with time in lieu to be taken when the family are not in residence.

The 23-acre estate includes an 11-bedroom main house, 4 bedroom guest house, swimming pool, lakes, boat house, formal gardens, terraces, woodland, vegetable garden, orchard, and hen coup.

When the family are in residence, they do bring other staff with them including maids, chefs and nannies for the grandchildren. There is a part time formal gardener.

The ideal couple would be professional, experienced, organised, proactive and work well together and with others. Longevity in positions is important.

Duties:

  • Keeping the house clean and tidy at all times

  • Laundry and ironing

  • Shopping and running errands

  • Preparing the house for the family’s arrival

  • Managing the house

  • PA duties (managing household budgets and accounts etc)

  • Writing of house management manuals, writing and maintaining inventories and acquisition and care of fine art works and antiques

  • Training and overseeing the staff members who travel with the family

  • Some simple cooking for the family when they are in residence, would be ideal

  • Greeting family and guests and serving refreshments

  • Garden maintenance such as lawn mowing, trimming, strimming, pruning, watering etc

  • Exterior maintenance such as leaf blowing, window cleaning, Jet washing patios etc

  • Maintaining the large vegetable garden

  • Swimming pool maintenance

  • Handyman duties (basic DIY and minor repairs etc)

  • Occasional driving duties (airport runs etc) and vehicle maintenance

  • Overseeing and liaising with contractors

  • Security of the property

  • Being available on a 24/7 basis when the family are in residence to ensure the highest level of service

Working week:

  • When the family are not in residence: 5 days a week, of your choosing

  • When the family are in residence: 6 days a week, with longer hours required and time in lieu to be taken when they are not in residence.

Drivers: ideally both. A car is provided for both work and personal use.

Accommodation: a large, recently refurbished 2-bedroom flat above the garage with a large balcony. There is also the use of a small garden, patio and shed.   A cat might be considered. Utility bills included.

Start: As soon as possible, but flexible for the right couple

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 gross per annum, depending on experience
