Live in Couple Job in Kent 

A fantastic opportunity to work for a family in Kent who are looking for an energetic and flexible couple to lead the management of a small estate 90 minutes from Central London. The estate comprises a Grade-2 listed 6-bedroom Georgian family home, 2-bed guest cottage, 2-bed stable conversion outbuildings, pool and tennis court set in 50 acres including formal gardens, woodland, pasture and a wonderful kitchen garden. This is the family home of the principals and their 3 children: aged 13 and 10-year-old twins. This is a sole charge position when the parents are working.

Housekeeper/Nanny duties:

  • Dropping off and collecting the children from school and or train station and after school activities (can be shared with Groundsperson)

  • Ensuring children are prepared for school day including uniform, sports kit and equipment, homework bags, musical instruments and any other required items

  • Encouraging homework

  • Preparing and supervising meals (breakfast and children's dinner, lunch in school holidays)

  • In school holidays, taking children to activities and providing supervision where needed

  • Evening babysitting, occasional overnight babysitting by prior arrangement

  • Day-to-day thorough housekeeping of the main house - including cleaning, dusting, bed changing, laundry, ironing

  • Taking ownership of keeping house neat, tidy and organised

  • Running errands and food shopping

  • Taking deliveries and overseeing contractors and tradespeople

  • Provisioning and organisation of household pantry items and supplies

  • Supervision of housekeeping team servicing the holiday let guest cottage

  • Occasionally the house is used as a film location and you will act as a point of contact for the production team

  • Strong cookery skills would be desirable, for example: meal planning, preparation and cooking of fresh, healthy family meals. There is access to a large kitchen/vegetable garden for seasonal produce

  • Support with entertaining, on occasion

Groundsperson duties:

  • Responsible for the maintenance of the buildings, gardens and grounds.

  • Maintain the garden and grounds to a high standard including grass cutting, edging, path clearing, hedge cutting and tree pruning, weeding, tree management (with tree-surgeons where required), lake maintenance, driveway maintenance and seasonal duties e.g. leaf clearing.

  • Liaise with contractors e.g. boiler service, AGA maintenance, pest control

  • Clean and look after the cars (e.g. fuel, checking tyres and valeting) and garden machinery, undertaking and arranging servicing, repairs etc.

  • Other maintenance activities e.g. gutters, simple plumbing, DIY

  • Perform pool and tennis court maintenance (working with contractors where needed)

  • Maintain a stock of logs and monitor heating oil

  • Occasional driving duties for the principals to and from airport, station pickups, restaurants etc.

  • Driveway maintenance

They should have a practical background with good hands-on maintenance skills and be capable of property maintenance and hard landscaping, ideally with previous qualifications of a trade and gardening knowledge and experience. Excellent organisation skills are essential. 

Start date: End of August / September

Working week: Monday – Friday

Hours:

  • Housekeeper/Nanny: Monday to Friday: 7am – 7/8pm with a large break in the day

  • Groundsperson: Monday to Friday: 8am – 5pm

  • Depending on duties required, hours may be shared between couple (e.g. babysitting, driving)

Accommodation: recently refurbished separate 2-bed flat with utilities paid. Ideally no pets but a Cat might be considered.

Driving: Ideally both must drive
