Live in Couple Job in Norfolk
We are looking for an experienced Couple (Housekeeper & Head Gardener/ Groundsman) to take responsibility for the care and ongoing development of a beautiful 20-acre private estate in the Norfolk countryside. This peaceful estate, used by the family primarily at weekends and during school holidays, includes formal gardens, a productive kitchen garden, and wider grounds. It is a much-loved sanctuary for the family. From 2026, it will also serve as a retreat centre for leadership teams from affiliated businesses and charities.
Housekeeper responsibilities
- Housekeeping & Cleaning: Impeccable care of the 3 properties on the estate ensuring every room is beautifully maintained to the highest standard.
- An eye for and desire to prepare the properties visually e.g. decorating with seasonal flowers and decorations. Willingness and ability to create centre pieces/ lay tables so that they are visually appealing and enhance the guests' stay.
- Laundry: Washing, ironing, and careful organisation of household linen.
- Household Organisation: Keeping spaces tidy, well-stocked, and ready for family and guests at all times.
- Guest & Event Support: Assisting with events and hosting duties to ensure seamless experiences.
- Teamwork & Communication: Liaising closely with the General Manager, following instructions, and contributing positively to the team.
- People Management: Manage additional internal/ external ‘turnaround’ team (as required)
- Supplies Management: Monitoring and replenishing household essentials.
- Errands: Supporting with shopping, deliveries, and general household tasks as needed.
Gardener responsibilities
- Complete maintenance and development of the formal and kitchen gardens
- Seasonal planting, propagation, pruning, weeding, mulching, and general plant care
- Lawn mowing, edging, feeding, and aeration as required
- Care of trees, hedges, and established beds.
- Managing irrigation systems and garden machinery
- Planning and implementing planting schemes and garden improvements in collaboration with the family
- Upkeep of paths, terraces, garden furniture, and outdoor entertaining areas
- Maintenance of the swimming pool and hot tub (desirable)
- Maintenance of 2 ponds- 1 reflecting, 1 wild
- Support with day-to-day site running and maintenance e.g. maintaining the wood pellet boiler, taking bins out, accepting deliveries
- Monitoring and reporting on garden health, pest control, and general condition
- Occasionally liaising with contractors, suppliers, or other tradespeople
- Ensuring the garden is always guest-ready.
Previous experience with budgetary responsibility and key holding is desirable.

- Topiary
- Tree surgery
- RHS horticulture qualification
- City & Guilds NPTC or Lantra
- Pesticide certifications
- Chainsaw license
Start: ideally September
Accommodation: nearby suitable accommodation will be sourced
Working days: Monday to Friday with some weekend work when required
Hours: 8/9am – 4/5pm
Driving is essential.
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 gpa
