Live in Couple Job in Essex

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for a single lady. An experienced domestic couple is required to share the day-to-day management of a family home in rural Essex, close to Stansted airport. The main property has 7 bedrooms and the daughter lives on another property on the estate with her two young children.

Also employed is a part time cleaner once a week and 2 full time Gardeners.

The ideal Couple would be flexible, proactive, easy going, friendly and looking for a long term position in family environment.

Domestic responsibilities: 

  • Cleaning to a high standard throughout the home

  • Laundry, ironing and wardrobe management

  • Care and cleaning of high-quality furnishings, fine art, and fabrics

  • Provisioning and household organisation and management

  • Assisting with planning family parties and entertaining.

  • Light simple family cooking when required

  • Assisting with food preparation

  • Shopping and running errands.

  • Assistance with caring for the owners 3 dogs when required.

  • Pet sit and house-sit when the family are away.

  • Assisting with the 2 grandchildren as and when required.

Grounds/General Household responsibilities

  • Household maintenance and general maintenance work throughout the house and grounds

  • General garden maintenance, lawn mowing using ride on mower

  • Washing cars

  • Window cleaning

  • Occasional driving duties

  • Overseeing visiting contractors

  • Laying fires, bring in logs

  • Polishing brass and silver

  • Jet washing outside patio and courtyard areas

  • Setting out and putting away garden furniture

  • Helping/serving when entertaining 

  • Pet sit and house sit when the family are away

  • Ensuring the property is secure at all times

  • Dog care

Start date: January 2026 but flexible for the right Couple

Working week: 5.5 days a week ideally with one full weekend off per month.

  • Monday to Friday: 8am – 6pm with a 1 hour 30 minute break

  • Saturdays: 8.30 am - 1pm

Accommodation: self contained 2 bedroom flat. Pets welcome.

Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 gross per annum, negotiable depending on experience

Driving: Ideally both be confident drivers
