Live in Couple Job in Northamptonshire

A client of Greycoat Lumleys is looking for a switched-on and organised Interior Couple (Head Housekeeper & Driver/Cook/Butler) for their weekend estate in Northamptonshire. The estate has a working farm which produces lovely fresh produce. There are a lot of outbuilding on the estate that are used for guest accommodation that will need to be kept immaculate at all times.

You would be working alongside an Estate manager, 2 full time housekeepers and a part time housekeeper. Their Chef from London will sometimes come on weekends. There will be additional exterior staff employed on the estate, meaning that this role would be suitable for someone who enjoys working in a team.

The principal also has a dog, which you will be responsible for looking after overnight.

Duties to include: 

  • Hands-on housekeeping.
  • Keeping the property clean and tidy
  • Laundry and ironing duties
  • Wardrobe management
  • Stock checking and taking inventories
  • Organising grocery orders, taking deliveries etc.
  • Organising collections and deliveries of furniture 
  • Liaising with household PA 
  • Preparing household for arrivals 
  • Preparing meals for the principals when they are in residence (they enjoy freshly made meals, especially Italian & Asian cuisines)
  • Liaising with contractors
  • Driving duties and vehicle maintenance
  • Butler duties (laying fires, serving drinks etc)
  • Dog care (the dog would be required to sleep in your accommodation at night)
  • Security of the estate

The ideal Couple would have extremely high attention to detail, be self-starters and have had experience working in ultra-high net worth private households. Discretion is key.

Accommodation: 4-bedroom separate cottage on the estate with utility bills included. A dog will be considered. 

Working days: Wednesday to Sunday or Thursday to Monday with days off during the week.

Hours: 8am – 5pm when the principals are not in residence, with flexibility to work longer hours when the principals are in residence at weekends

Driving: at least one must be a confident driver

Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 gross per annum, negotiable depending on experience

Start: As soon as the right person is found.
