Live in Housekeeper job near Reading, Berkshire
Experienced full-time housekeeper, required for a 17-bedroom country house for an elderly couple. You will be liaising with the Estate Manager, PA, Head gardener and his team, and Estate workers for property maintenance. You will work under a head housekeeper, there is one other permanent and 2 temporary housekeepers (helping during shooting days) already employed in the house.
It is a traditional country household but also a family home. Numbers in residence can be as few as 2 however they do entertain regularly during the shooting season, as well as family functions - mainly during the weekends. The house is very busy during Christmas and less so during the remainder of the year- flexibility is key!
Duties will include :
Hands-on cleaning, laundry, and ironing to a high standard
You should have experience in the care of antiques and fabrics, care of public and private rooms, training can be given
Bed making and changing linen
Preparing the playroom/nursery for grandchildren
Setting table for meals
Assistance at shoot lunches both family and commercial
Ability to cook would be an advantage, but not a must
Must be a dog lover and confident with large boisterous dogs as the duties will also involve walking, feeding, and caring for 2 Labradors.
Shopping locally, going to the cleaners, shopping at supermarkets, taking prescriptions to Chemist, and other errands as needed.
Driving essential, must have own car but car provided for work purposes.
Salary: up to £33,000 GPA
Hours: 39-hour week on a 3 week rota. Weekends and Bank holidays worked on a rota.
Accommodation: Lovely, large separate cottages on site. Partners and pets are welcome, however you will need to pay for heating and electricity.
Starts: February or March 2024 but flexible for the right candidate
