Live-in or Live-out Housekeeper/Cook Job in Sherborne, Dorset
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Housekeeper to look after a stunning, recently renovated family home in the beautiful Dorset countryside.
The family are warm, welcoming, and long-standing clients of Greycoat Lumleys. They have three children, aged 10, 13 and 15 years old, and two friendly family dogs, and are seeking a Housekeeper with previous experience in a similar role, a positive attitude, and a strong team spirit. You will be working as a team with a live-in couple at the property to ensure the smooth running of the household. In addition to maintaining the main house and outdoor areas to a high standard, the role includes cooking for the family, including some evening meals. The property also includes an office area and additional guest accommodation.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Full housekeeping to a high standard
- Laundry, ironing, and fabric care, including managing dry cleaning
- Cooking simple family meals
- Household provisioning
- Running local errands
- Occasional child-minding, pet sitting, and house sitting
- Ad-hoc duties as required
This is a busy household, and the ideal candidate will be organised, hardworking, reliable, flexible, and discreet, with excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic. The Housekeeper must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and respectful of the family’s privacy.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar private household role
- Driver with own car (vehicle provided for work purposes)
- Flexible and adaptable approach
Accommodation (Live-In): One-bedroom annexe on the property with green space. Pets may be considered.
Start date: April 2026
Working hours: Monday to Friday (occasional weekend work may be required), 8 am – 5/6 pm alternate weeks with flexibility.
