Housekeeper Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Housekeeper to join a newly renovated 11-bedroom private household in Hungerford, starting around the end of June 2025.
The property is a weekend residence, primarily used by a young family with three children. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a busy, informal family environment, and happy to be around dogs.

About the Role:
Working under the House Manager and alongside at least one other full-time housekeeper, the Housekeeper will play a key role in ensuring the household runs smoothly and is maintained to a high standard.
We are seeking someone who is independent, proactive, and confident enough in their ability that they won’t require constant direction.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from an experienced House Manager, gradually take on more responsibility, and truly make the role your own within a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation throughout the home.
Preparing the house for the family’s arrival and ensuring it is consistently presented to the highest standard, always ready and welcoming whenever the family arrive.
Care for antiques and high-end furnishings with appropriate cleaning methods.
Help oversee and support the wider housekeeping team.
Take initiative to identify tasks and solve problems independently.
Assist the House Manager with daily operations and household routines.
Ability or willingness to assist with F&B service would be a bonus.
Laundry and wardrobe care, including delicate items.
Occasional errand-running and assistance with service as needed.
Pet Care - Family own 2 dogs.
Ideal Candidate:
Has experience working in a private household.
Demonstrates clear career progression, ambition, and a desire to grow within private service.
Is reliable, independent, and requires minimal hand-holding.
During school holidays the family may well be in residence during the week as well as at weekends, so candidates must be happy and able to adapt.
Brings a hands-on, positive, and calm attitude.
Works well in a team but is also comfortable taking the lead when needed.
Comfortable working around children and animals, particularly dogs.
Has excellent attention to detail and discretion.
This is a traditional rural Estate and it is important the candidate enjoys rural life and country pursuits.
Hours: 40hrs/week, working over the weekends with days off during the week.
Salary: £40,000 GPA
