Live out Head Housekeeper, near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire
A family consisting of two parents, two children, and 4 friendly dog is seeking a new long-term Head Housekeeper. They are looking for someone who values building a long-term relationship and becoming part of a wonderful household. The family lives in a stunning five-bedroom property with beautiful grounds and horses. They are a busy family, with the children attending school. Currently, they employ another full-time housekeeper and a weekend housekeeper, whom you will oversee. You will be leading the Housekeeping department. The family is eager to find a new Head Housekeeper to join their household and collaborate with their close-knit staff. While they maintain an informal and relaxed atmosphere, they also appreciate having their home presented to the highest standard.
Duties
You should be confident with all aspects of housekeeping and be able to clean and care for the home to a very high standard, with excellent attention to detail.
You will be responsible for the daily and deep cleaning of the household and ensure it is always tidy and presentable. Making beds, cleaning bathrooms and all areas of the house.
You will also be responsible for laundry, ironing, wardrobe management and laundry care to include very delicate garments including cashmere.
Ensuring that the home is generally well-presented and cared for.
Help walking the family dog.
Running errands.
Making an inventory of the pantry and keeping it up-to-date and well-stocked.
Picking up the children from school on occasion.
Light cooking duties, mainly food prep - but this isn't a big part of the role as the family have a chef.
Overseeing the food shop each week.
You will need to ensure the children are prepped accordingly for school at the beginning of each term (checking school uniforms and basic requirements from the school handbook)
On occasions, you may need to stay over with the children if the principals are at a social event overnight, but overtime/time off in lieu will be given.
Requirements for the role:
Be highly organised and have great attention to detail in relation to House Management.
Be able to demonstrate longevity on your CV.
Have experience in Private Households this is essential.
Driver with own car to get to the property. be comfortable driving the family's automatic 4x4 vehicle.
Have strong house management skills and have a working knowledge of the household, allowing it to run smoothly.
Have strong initiative and an eye for detail, the house is beautifully cared for, so you need to be able to come in and keep the standards high.
Be a team player, able to work on your own initiative, but also happy to manage and work alongside the other housekeeper.
Pet friendly, if you have a love of horses this would be a bonus (not a necessity).
The family are looking for someone who is positive, warm discreet with a calm personality and energy, along with has excellent common sense, solution driven and can read a room. Flexibility and resilience to get the job done is key to this role. Attention to detail is extremely important, and you should enjoy working to high standards as requested by the principals. It's a varied role, they are looking for someone who can go with the flow, and adjust to the daily requirements of the duties.
Salary:
£40,000 - £50,000 Gross per year, depending on experience
Days/Hours
5 days per week, Monday to Friday
8:30am - 5:30pm with a one-hour lunch break
Occasional weekend work required with advance notice
