Although Italy isn’t as well-known as a ski destination as its other European cousins, France, Austria and Switzerland, you might be surprised to learn that it has over 300 diverse ski areas and plenty of reliable snow making it a great place to work a season.
The northern Italian border is dominated by high mountains, from the French and Swiss Alps in the North West to the Dolomites and Austrian Alps in the North East.
The mountains in the region are among the most spectacular anywhere with mighty rock faces of pink granite stretching up for thousands of metres.
Ski resorts in Italy are predominantly found in the north although they do reach as far as the slopes of Mt Etna on Sicily and the skiing is typically aimed at beginners/intermediates with a limited number of expert runs.
In the higher resorts the season is usually extended so you can work for longer or add on a holiday at the end of your stay.
One of the key benefits of working a ski season in Italy it is generally much cheaper to live there than other countries which ensures your wages go much further, the après ski is a fairly lively one and of course you have the wonderful Italian food to enjoy all season.

The areas and resorts

The Fiat car company was responsible for the first specially built ski resort Sestriere in 1934, which was the main host of the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics and this resort now sits at the heart of one of the world's largest ski areas, the Milky Way, with 400 kilometres of pistes that continue over the border into France.
Sestriere is part of the Via Lattea ski area, home to dozens of slopes hosting major competitions including the challenging Kandahar Banchetta Giovanni Nasi an Olympic-level piste running from Mount Motta to Mount Banchetta.
The Dolomiti region was the world's original giant area pass combining a dozen interconnected valleys with 1,200km of pistes and runs including those known as the Sella Ronda.

The Fassa Valley, a training ground for Italian Olympians, is one of the best in the region and as far as scenery goes, the Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, which is in the shadow of Mont Blanc, are superb places to live and work.
Other well-known resorts include Bormio, Cervinia, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Courmayeur, Madonna di Campiglio and Val Gardena.
What types of roles do we have available?
We have truly amazing opportunities available at some of the most sensational resorts where we can match the level of terrain, pistes and après with the ski role you desire.

Whatever your skills and experience we will work hard to match you with your perfect role and we are currently looking to register the following roles for the next season:

  • Ski Chalet Staff: Chefs, Cooks, Hosts & Couples - who will bring endless energy and enthusiasm to these demanding roles that offer the real of benefit of spending lots of time on the mountains. Roles vary and can include the Cook/Host role being brought together or for other roles the Chef will take full responsibility for all the cooking and the Host will take care of the serving and cleaning. We also have opportunities where you can work with a partner or friend and enjoy the season together and help each other manage the work and long hours.

  • Ski Nannies & Childcare - If you are qualified and experienced in childcare and fancy a change of scene then a season in a ski resort could just be what you are looking for. The breathtaking views will be matched with exciting opportunities where you will entertain the children in your care with memory-making sledge rides, snowball fights and of course all those hot chocolates and marshmallows.
