Whether it's the glamour, the scenery of majestic mountains or simply the snow you’re looking for living and working in one of Switzerland’s world class ski resorts promises something for everyone.
In the Swiss Alps you are never far from a mountain that can offer easy cruising terrain with dedicated slopes and lifts just for learners and beginners, through to narrow pistes that will guarantee an adrenaline rush and huge glaciers that offer year-round skiing.
Switzerland is renowned the world over for offering a choice of ski resorts where the skiing, service and resort facilities are among the best in the world and as the Swiss have managed development so well, many resorts are car free and allow the majestic beauty of the Alps to always take centre stage.
Switzerland is located right in the heart of the European Alps, sandwiched between France, Austria, Germany and Italy and is home to the most European peaks over 4000m and some of the most well-known resorts in Europe.

All about Switzerland

Depending on where you are in Switzerland you will find the language will change accordingly. English and German are widely spoken with French also commonly spoken.
The average income in Switzerland is considerably higher than in other European countries and there is no doubting that Switzerland can be very expensive, especially in the cities of Geneva and Zurich.
Fortunately, however, hiring companies are well aware of the cost of living and often reflect this in the wages paid and of course roles can include food, accommodation as well as other expenses such as your lift pass.
Switzerland is not part of the EU, however persons from the EU or EFTA (European Free Trade Association) ‘member states’, regardless of their qualifications, are allowed to work in Switzerland without needing to obtain a work permit.

Which Resort?

The thing with Swiss ski resorts is that they are all good and are run super efficiently. Some are frequented more by locals and there are the large resorts of Verbier, Zermatt and Crans-Montana that attract many tourists.
Resorts often open in December and run through to April, although there are some resorts which have extended seasons due to year-round glaciers.
Towards the South-West of the country are the Vaud and Valais regions on the border with France and the ski resorts here are French speaking. This region is often considered the best region in Switzerland and includes such spectacular resorts as Villars, Crans Montana, Champéry, Leukerbad, Nendaz and Saas-Fee.
Verbier is one of Switzerland’s more famous resorts and was named Switzerland's best ski resort in the 2018 World Ski Awards. Home to the famed Tortin, one of Europe's steepest descents it has a lively nightlife that makes it a great place for season workers looking for a good party style atmosphere.
Zermatt is often said to be the best resort in Switzerland and has the huge and impressive and iconic Matterhorn looming and offers the highest winter sports area in the Alps.
The Bernese Oberland divides the north of the country from the south and is home to the famous Jungfrau region, including the popular resorts of Grindelwald, Wengen, and Murren as well as a number of lesser well-known resorts. These resorts are predominantly German speaking.
To the east of Switzerland is the Graubűnden region, which is the biggest holiday and tourist destination in the country and attracts the biggest crowds. Resorts here include the famous, glitzy resorts of St Moritz which is one of the world's oldest and most famous winter sports resorts well known for its nightlife.
Also, in this area is Davos a series of ski resorts and one of Europe's largest and highest winter sports areas where you find well-heeled resorts such as Klosters where you might share the slopes with royalty.
