Although Valentine’s Day is meant to be the most romantic day of the year, many of us can find it becomes a lot of pressure and leaves us scratching our heads over how to best celebrate. You could go for the traditional meal out, or you could take the opportunity to shake things up and do something different.  Read on as we’ve got some great ideas how you can spice up your Valentine’s Day plans.

Yoga for couples

The basic definition of yoga is yoke or union - the work of uniting your mind, body and spirit. Couples yoga deepens the practice by including your partner in postures where breathing and moving together is key.

The benefits of practicing yoga with a partner are endless, but some include improved levels of communication, deeper expressions of postures and the encouragement of trust.

Where can I find a yoga class?

No specific qualifications are required to teach yoga in the UK. However, it is generally accepted that teachers need to be insured, and have a teaching certificate and accreditation from a yoga association.

The main UK yoga associations are:

Get Active

They do say couples who play together stay together, so why not try something different to have fun and get active this Valentine’s Day.

Every area of the UK has an abundance of activity centres where you can bring out your inner child and you can always go for a romantic meal later, after all, you will have worked up quite an appetite. Miniature golf, trampoline parks, laser quest and ice skating are all good fun.

Have a Laugh

There is lots of research highlighting that doing something that makes you both laugh could be the key to relationship success. With this in mind why not spend an evening in one of the many comedy clubs throughout the UK.

Eat differently

Let’s face it; most of us have had a meal out with our partners. However, how many of us have experienced the ultimate in British dinning, Afternoon Tea. There has been a welcome revival of this great British traditinl in recent years, which has led to easy availability of locations offering afternoon tea, at all price ranges.

Enter the world of the Spa

Another experience that couples often don’t do together, however what could be more romantic than a day of couples pampering and indulgent treatments. You could also book overnight accommodation to make it extra special.
