Historically the South West has been home to many rural communities where farming has been a key industry for the area. Bristol, already one of the most affluent areas in the UK, has firmly put its Maritime past behind it as thousands of tech jobs continue to be created within the city and surrounding areas, helped by its position at the western end of the M4 corridor with its excellent links to London. The Area
The South West of England is home to some of the most beautiful and enchanting sights in the UK, including UNESCO world heritage site Stonehenge.
It offers miles and miles of coastline, valleys, forests and bygone villages including the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), that is so picturesque and quaint it attracts visitors from all over the world.
The area also boasts another AONB, the Quantock Hills which comprise heathland, rivers, lakes, oak woodlands and ancient parklands, as well as agricultural land offering extensive views over much of Somerset and across to the Welsh coast; perfect for activities such as walking, cycling and horse-riding.
Stretching from Exmouth in East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset, the Jurassic Coast was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2001 and presents one of the most important, interesting and visually stunning coastlines in the world. If that wasn’t enough the area is also home to Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks and all they give in terms of outdoor activities including walking and cycling.
Eating and drinking
The South West is an area built on farming and still to this day you are able to source locally farmed, delicious fresh produce including fresh meat, organic fruit and vegetables and sumptuous seafood all over the region. There are some world-famous local delicacies including the Cornish pasty, cream tea and of course the infamous unfiltered cider called “scrumpy”. If your tastes are more sophisticated the South West has many major towns where you can get your culture fix as well as dining at some truly trendsetting restaurants.
Housing
Although the average property in the South West will set you back a little more than the national average, when you factor in the community feel, endless choice of family activities and low crime rate it is easy to see why. Prices do vary considerably as does the style of housing available, however you can be sure that there will not be a lack of choice and compared to London and the Home Counties your money will go a long way in the South West.

Throughout the South West there are many great schools to choose from, both independent and state school, that will suit students of all ages and abilities.
