Gardener Job

Gardener, West Cork, Ireland Greycoat Lumley’s client are seeking an experienced Gardener for their private 7 acre garden in West Cork, a place of great wildness and abundance, needs an experienced all-rounder. West Cork is Ireland’s Cornwall. it is gardening heaven. It benefits from the Gulf Stream and temperatures that seldom drop beyond -2*C nor stay below zero for more than a couple of hours. The soil is gently acidic and hence Magnolias, Camellias, Myrtles, Dicksonia, Echium and all but the most tender plants thrive.  Mt Corrin House’s Garden is within 150 yards of the sea and has a tidal stream running through it, yet the deep tree cover means that we have the upside of a coastal garden without the loading of salt that one would expect.  The Garden was established c20 years ago and has matured rapidly.  After 15 years, our current Gardener is downscaling and we need a new Head Gardener to take it to even higher standards of interest and abundance.  Gardener to bring (back) professional gardening skills to the management of: A flower garden in a (small) walled garden Much wisteria A river garden planted up with Gunnera,  Taxodium, bamboos  Several ponds with much marginal planting  A Charles Jenks-style terraced hill A hectare of kitchen  garden with commercial scale Polytunnels in which asparagus, melons and all the usual are grown There is a Groundsman and resident Housekeeper.
